Vanita Des Mazes is the newest friendly face you will find at RE/MAX Bulkley Valley, working alongside Sandra Hinchliffe.

Vanita is a new transplant into the Bulkley Valley, having moved here from Alberta at the beginning of the pandemic.  Already versed in Real Estate as an agent, she made the leap to work in Smithers.

From what I can gather, Vanita is a kind soul, and a hard worker.  She’s a mother to 3, and all of us moms know how difficult it can be to juggle mom-work and work-work.  We got to know each other a little better over a sunny morning coffee and I found her to be soft spoken, with an easy laugh.

Vanita is doing a really good job establishing herself in the world of Real Estate (no easy task!) If you see her- give her a warm, Bulkley Valley welcome!

Welcome to the table, Vanita!

How long have you called the Bulkley Valley home?

Only about 16 months but we love it here!!

What is one thing you’ve learned about friendship (or community)?

True friends are pure gold. I have lived in a lot of places in my adult life, and I’ve had to say goodbye to some amazing friends. A friend you can call up out of the blue and visit forever on the phone, or the friend that can tell what you are feeling by the sound of your voice is a true blessing.

What is one area you are growing in?

Ahh, Real Estate of course right now. I am learning so much, but life is so full of different stages. Right now I am big on gratitude, and being grateful for what is, and what will be in the future.

What is one thing you would say to your younger self?

You can do anything you want! Take the risk, jump! No really, JUMP!  Whether it is off the dock, or in the direction of your dreams, JUMP! Do the hard thing. Seize the moment. Every time!  All things work together to get you where you need to be.

Who inspires you and why?

Sandra Hinchliffe. She is an amazing model of a kick-ass solopreneur, and a family oriented strong woman. I am so blessed to be working alongside her.

Also, my husband Mark who has never hesitated to support me and tell me I can do anything I have ever wanted to.

What do you know is true, and how do you carry that day to day?

Your heart already knows the way, sometimes you have to choose the direction your heart is telling you. Mark and our kids are my biggest fans. They will always say “YAY MOM!”  My youngest gave me a note encouraging me when she was about 10. I still carry it in my work bag!
